The latest drought figures for New South Wales show the percentage of the state affected by drought has risen slightly to 42.9 per cent.
March was generally dry across most of the state, with only the central west and south eastern regions getting useful storm rainfall around Easter.
Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald says winter crop prospects are looking positive for NSW, but farmers need good autumn rainfall.
"They are anxiously awaiting for quite good rainfall across the state so they can get the winter crops in," he said.
"We anticipate there'll be a record amount of cropping put into the ground if we can get some decent autumn rain."
