Op 1 december waren er 27 bevestigde tornado's in Illinois.
Het vorige record stond op 21 tornado's en dat was op 18 - 19 december 1957. Deze tornado - uitbraak heeft tevens de 3e plaats gehaald als het gaat om tornado uitbraken gedurende alle maanden van het jaar. De grootste uitbraak was op 19 april 1996 met 39 tornado's, gevolgd door 4 februari 2006 met 36 tornado's.De uitbraak begon op 30 november in Oklahoma, met helaas 1 dodelijk slachtoffer in Aurora Missouri.
De meest significante tornado, was de EF 3 tornado, die grote schade aanrichtte in Taylorville. Honderden huizen liepen grote schade op en 22 mensen raakten gewond.
De tornado had windsnelheden van 250 km/u en was 800 meter breed.
De NWS zegt het onderzoek gisteren (4 december) hebben afgesloten. Daarom kunnen bovenstaande getallen nog wijzigen.
