A strong and shallow earthquake registered by the PHIVOLCS as M6.0 hit Davao Oriental, Mindanao,Philippines at 03:53 UTC (11:43 local time) on April 5, 2018. The agency is reporting a depth of 27 km (16.8 miles). The USGS is reporting M5.9 at a depth of 64.4 km (40 miles) and EMSC M6.1 at 80 km (49.7 miles).
According to the USGS, the epicenter was located 45 km (28 miles) SE of Tarragona (population 3 777), 51.6 km (32.1 miles) SSE of Manay (population 20 336), 64.2 km (39.9 miles) ESE of Mati (population 105 908), 85.7 km (53.2 miles) E of Lupon (population 27 247), and 85.7 km (53.2 miles) E of Davao (population 1 212 504), Philippines.
There are 650 000 people living within 100 km (62 miles) and 16 000 within 50 km (31 miles).
