Dahlia will gradually hook towards the south, thereby tracking away from Java, Indonesia. Through Friday, bands of heavy rain and gusty wind will impact Christmas Island as the cyclone strengthens and passes to the north and east of the island.
Lastly, an area of tropical low pressure has crossed the Malay Peninsula, moving into the Andaman Sea. The weather system has a history of triggering excessive rainfall across far southern Thailand and Malaysia during the past few days.
This system will cross the southern Andaman Sea to near northern Sumatra and the Nicobar Islands though Saturday, then will enter the open southern Bay of Bengal late in the week. A favorable environment may lead to formation of a tropical cyclone during this time period.
