Pasukkadavu flash floods: Three confirmed dead as two more bodies recovered
Kuttiyadi: The rescue team on Monday morning recovered two more dead bodies of the six youths who went missing while bathing in a river at Pasukkadavu in Maruthongara panchayat on Sunday evening following a flash flood.
The dead bodies were found around one and a half kilometers away from the spot the youths were bathing.
While one was identified as Sajin (19), son of Parambath Sasi, the identity of the other is yet to be ascertained.
The rescue team had on Sunday night recovered the body of Rajeesh (24), son of Parakkal Ramachandran.
The bodies are kept at the Government Talook Hospital, Kuttiyadi.
The missing youths were part of a nine-member group who had gone for bathing in the river at Pasukkadavu near a forest zone. The three others were rescued by local people. All the youths hail from Kothodu in the district.
Rural police identified the missing youths as Vipindas Devan (20), P. Rajessh (24), Aswanth Chandran (20), Akshay Rajeevan (18), P. Vishnu (19), and A. Sajin (19).
Local people said the flash flood occurred as a result of the torrential downpour in various locations in Wayanad district. The youths were unaware of the danger though it was slightly raining in the region.-
