M 2.3 klasse zonnevlam met cme
A long duration eruption measuring M2.3 was observed around region 2473 at 00:11 UTC (Jan 2). Based on updated imagery courtesy of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a noteworthy coronal mass ejection (CME) is likely. Unfortunately the active region is no longer in a direct Earth facing position, so the plasma cloud will likely be directed mostly to the west. More updates once updated coronagraph imagery becomes available.UPDATE: Low energy proton levels are on the rise following the eruption around 2473 this evening. A minor (S1) radiation storm may be possible. More to follow.ALERT: Type II Radio Emission
