At least nine Calgary families were forced to relocate last night after their homes became flooded.
More than a foot of rainwater poured into the basements of two homes on Rosehill Dr. N.W. after the street drains backed up around 6 p.m.
Those families were forced to find alternative accommodation for the night, and were considering contacting disaster services, said fire officials.
Seven suites in the 100-block of 26 Ave. N.W. also flooded, one with more than four feet of water. All of the occupants had to find another place to stay for the night.
Three homes in the 200-block of 31 Ave. N.E. were also affected, suffering several inches of water damage.
The fire department was kept hopping pumping water from homes, with more than 30 members and 12 apparatus responding to the calls.
