Trees falls and lightning strikes cut power to thousands of customers during wild weather across the state. Aurora crews worked late into the night to restore power to a few hundred customers between Devonport and Launceston.
At the height of yesterday's storms 12-and-a-half thousand properties statewide lost power. Four-and-a-half thousand in the north lost power and Aurora's Denice Barker says the north-west bore the brunt of the conditions with five thousand properties affected. About three thousand customers in the south lost power. Ms Barker said said crews worked under very difficult conditions last night.
"We had around 15 crews statewide because the storm was so prolific all around the state but mainly the worst hit areas was in the north west through to the north," she said.
