Tropical Storm Carlos has formed far off Mexico's Pacific coast and is expected to reach hurricane strength in the next few days as it moves further out to sea.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Friday that Carlos had maximum sustained winds near 40 mph and was expected to continue moving west for the next few days. At 2 p.m. PDT, the storm was about 910 miles south-southwest of the tip of the Baja California peninsula.
