An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 jolted Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido on Friday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The focus of the tremor, which occurred at 12:30 p.m. (0330 GMT), was 20 km below the sea off Tokachi of Hokkaido. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property, and no tsunami warning was issued.
