A storm described as a mini-tornado caused havoc on the northern outskirts of Kyneton late on Saturday afternoon. Trees up to two metres in diameter were brought down over fences and powerlines, and two homes and outbuildings were damaged around Edgecombe about 5:00pm AEST.
No-one was hurt but it was several hours before power and phone lines were repaired. Acting Sergeant Dale Clune says the Country Fire Authority, the Macedon Ranges shire, and the local State Emergency Service were called to clear trees around Edgecombe Road.
"There was a large tree blocking that road and when we further investigated we found there was about 20 trees down around Foxes Lane Blackhill School Road and Fords lanes. It ... came through probably about a 500 metre front and then pretty much died out at the end of Ford's Road," he said.
