Many regional centres across South Australia's mid-north and Flinders districts were left without power after wild weather yesterday afternoon. Napperby, Booleroo, Port Germein and Melrose were some of the centres which lost power because of lightning damage.
The ETSA had restored the service in most locations by 7:00pm ACDT. The State Emergency Service (SES) confirmed it was called out to 10 incidents in the northern area. The town of Nelshaby, east of Port Pirie, received a 30 millimetres downpour of rain which caused flash flooding in the area.
Sandbagging by the SES was carried out at eight houses in the area. Resident Kate Jacobs says her son's bike track has become a fast-flowing creek and it is the most rain she has ever seen. The back room's flooded - it came so quickly, she said.
"It subsided within 10 minutes so it all came and went as quick as."
