Wild weather is battering the South Coast as severe thunderstorms move towards Esperance. The State Emergency Service (SES) is warning of fallen trees on the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway near Norseman.
One farmer has reported crop damage from 100 millimetres of hail near Salmon Gums, north of Esperance.
Some roads in the area are covered with hail, with one farmer in Salmon Gums recording 100 millimetres of hail. The S-E-S has received nine call for assistance from Albany, where nine reports of flood damage to homes have been reported. Linda Elms from the SES says people should secure loose items and take care while driving.
Stay away from the roads while it passes over and if there is flash flooding around, she said. Just ask the drivers to take care should they come across water over the road, because they don't actually know how deep it will be, and if there's any subsidence underneath it.
The SES says people should stay indoors during the storm.
