Three killed, hundreds displaced as flash floods hit Turkana
Three people have been reported dead and hundreds of families left homeless after flash floods hit Turkana County.
Buildings and livestock have also been washed away by the floods even as the county government continues to ascertain the extent of the destruction caused so far.
Floods have also rendered Lodwar-Kalokol Road, Lodwar-Kakuma-Lokchogio and South Sudan and Lodwar-Kitale roads impassable.
Humanitarian organisations have been unable to reach affected people due to flooded roads and rivers whereby four rivers; Kawalasee, Kosipir, Kalemorok and Napasinayang have burst their banks.
Shylock Natuk, one of the flood victims, stated that all her belongings were swept away by the floods after it destroyed the walls of her house.
Major road links were also cut off and motorists and pedestrians forced to spend the nights in the banks of river Kawalasee and River Kalemorok.
Turkana Central OCPD Joel Kirui confirmed the death warning residents to be cautious when crossing flooded roads.
