Official sources, weather spotters, and viewers report a long list of tornados, thunderstorms, and damage. The National Weather Service is reporting Mexico had two confirmed tornado touchdowns. One tornado was at the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 54, right near a high school. Randolph, Chariton and Audrain counties saw a lot of action Sunday, most viewer calls came from those areas.
Some of the spots where viewers reported bad storms or damage included Higbee, Renick, Moberly, Mount Airy, and Mexico. Severe weather hit Higbee twice, one tornado confirmed by Moberly police. Damage there includes fallen trees. Police also confirmed a tornado in Renick. Moberly lost power around 8 p.m. as high winds and hail moved through the area. The storms also affected rural areas, such as Mount Airy, where a caller reported a demolished barn.
The National Weather Service confirms tornados on the ground northeast of Mexico, with reports coming in of damage around Bassinger's corner and along Highway KK. Hail was as big as baseball-sized across mid-Missouri.
